Kimono Paintings |
List of Paintings | ||||
On a concrete level the kimono in my paintings are artifacts from my life. I lived in Tokyo, Japan when I was very young. Our family acquired a number of kimono while there and I inherited them when my mother moved to a nursing home. These paintings are about the connection I feel to the kimono, to the time in my life when I lived close to the Japanese culture and the thread of memory I have of the Japanese civilization. For a look at some beautiful kimono and other items of Japanese culture and clothing please visit Ichiro and Yuka Wada's web site and their associated web site featuring antique Japanese items. |
